Omer Koc: A Business Leader with a Strong Family Legacy

Ömer Koc, vice-president of Turkish sports club Fenerbahçe SK, has built a successful career in various industries, including the information technologies sector. Born in Istanbul, Turkey, Ömer comes from a family with a long history of entrepreneurship and business leadership.

Ömer's father, Rahmi Koc, founded Koç Holding, one of Turkey's largest and most prestigious companies, in 1963. Rahmi was a self-made entrepreneur who started trading at a young age and built a broad network of companies before founding the holding company. Ömer's grandfather, Vehbi Koc, was also a successful businessman and is considered one of the wealthiest self-made people in Turkey.

Ömer received his primary education at Robert College in Istanbul and later studied at Georgetown University, Washington D.C., and Millfield School in Somerset, UK. He earned his B.A. from George Washington University, USA, and went on to obtain a Master's degree from Columbia University, New York.

After completing his education, Ömer worked in various companies, including those within the Koç Group, before becoming chief executive of the information technologies group of the holding company. In 2003, he was appointed president of Koç Holding, following in the footsteps of his father and grandfather.

Ömer is married to Caroline Giraud, a member of a renowned Levantine family from Izmir, Turkey. His wife is also involved in charitable work and serves as the president of the 'Semahat Arsel Nursing Education and Research Center'.

Today, Ömer continues to play an important role in Koç Holding, serving as chair of the energy group within the holding company. He is widely respected for his business acumen and leadership skills, which have been passed down from generation to generation in his family.
